1962 - 2021
It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Sonny on Wednesday, 28 July 2021 at the age of 58, son of Paulette Boisvert and the late Paul Normandin.
Sonny is survived by his sons Eric (Ashley) and Alex (Alexandra), his sisters Debbie (Tom) and Lynn (Glenn), his grandchildren Taytem and Lennox, his nephews Nick and Jake, his niece Hayley, as well as many other relatives.
Sonny will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for his smile and kind heart.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to two charities that meant the world to him:
Mike Reid Memorial Softball Tournament. Funds go to the MacKay Center for disabled children: e-transfer to bphilp2003@yahoo.com. All the Children-Sonny Normandin fund. Proceeds benefit families/children in need: e-tranfer to Sandilyoung@gmail.com.
Visitations will be on Wednesday 11 August 2021 from 16h to 20h and on Thursday 12 August from 9h to 12h followed by a service from 13h to 14h at St-Mary's Church 125, rue Grove, Greenfield Park, J4V 2X2

Sonny was an amazing man with a heart of gold who carried himself well in any company, comfortably. As someone who has experienced a difficult loss just a few weeks prior to the first Covid confinement, I fully sympathize with, and mourn, with you. Also, as a fellow consultant and colleague at ICAO, I very much appreciated Sonny's always helpful and friendly demeanor. He did not just call or message back, he somehow always took the time to "swing by" in person and ensure that everything worked smoothly. It was truly a shock to hear of his loss. May he rest in peace, as all the beloved ones we lost.

My deepest condolences to the family. Unbelievable, this is not sinking yet... I met Sonny back in October 1985. Starting my first real job at Pratt, he welcomed me and was my coach for the first few weeks ! I was amazed that at the turn of every corner, someone would say "Hi Sonny"...he just knew everyone ! Fast forward 35 years and I can't recall all of the amazing and fun times I spent with Sonny. Memorable times playing in a band together, getting together for lunch downtown, playing golf (he was much better than me !). I will especially miss his smile and exchanging with him on just about any topic ! Oh ya, will aslo miss his hugs !!! Hope you joined a band up there my friend...

I am very shocked to hear of Sonny's passing, a relatively young guy, always friendly and with a lot of energy. As a foreign delegate at ICAO, I came to know Sonny through my regular interactions to set up and maintain our IT arrangements. Although the IT trouble shooting was probably more than either of us would have preferred, the big plus was that we had regular engagements. I was always so well served by Sonny, professionally and in terms of a genuine friendship. Rest in Peace.

I am incredibly sad to hear of Sonny's passing. My sincere condolences to his family. I am a former colleagues of Sonny at ICAO. We had many wonderful chats about our shared love of music, bands and guitarists. Sonny was a complete joy to be around. A true professional, but more importantly a great guy to spend time with. I trusted him and he always delivered in so many ways.

Sonny was a wonderful person and loved by many. From the first time I met him at ICAO, I immediately felt he was genuine, warm and kind. He would always go over and beyond to help you with any IT issues you may have had. He was always there with a smile, available to talk and always had the knack of making you smile and laugh.
Sonny, you will forever be cherished, missed and never forgotten.

My deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Sonny's family at their loss.
Sonny's first words to me, whenever I ran to him to seek help with my computer problems - for example when I shared my coffee with my laptop! - always were "don't worry!" And I stopped worrying, because he made things right. He was always calm, always smiling, always confident. It was a great pleasure, even to bump into him in the lift, as he went about solving ICAO's computer problems. I missed him when I retired, in September 2020; I miss him now; I will always miss him.

A mon retour de congés, j’ai appris avec tristesse le décès de Sonny.
Je tenais, en mon nom et au nom de mes collègues, à présenter mes condoléances à sa famille, ses amis et collègues.
Je ne l’ai pas connu beaucoup, mais à chaque fois que j’ai eu besoin d’un service, il répondait présent avec gentillesse et bonne humeur.
J’imagine la peine qui est la vôtre d’un départ prématuré et si soudain.
