BOYANER, Melvin
1924 - 2020
Mel Boyaner ( 1924 - 2020 )
Montreal artist and long-time UQAM lithography professor died of Covid 19, Friday, April 17th, a few days after his 96th birthday.
He was the most loving husband of Hélène Painchaud, dear uncle to Rena Boyaner Tucker and sons Jon and Robbie Tucker, to Judy Hartman ( deceased ) and daughters Michelle and Joy Hartman and families, to Josh Boyaner and Gerry Boyaner.
He was close to Helene’s children: Marie-Noëlle Gieling and Mathieu Riendeau, Frédéric Gieling and Isabela Croteau.
And the proudest grandfather of Rabia and Théo Gieling who lit up his life.
Mel was loved and respected by family, long-time friends here in Canada, England, France and Belgium. Colleagues and former students will always remember him with affection.
We will miss his kindness, his smile, sparkling eyes and sense of humor, his integrity, tolerance and openness. All his life, he was hoping for a better world and worked to make it so.
He will be remembered through his art work and also in the way he touched each person’s life.
He was a real “mensch”!
A celebration of his life will be held when possible.
