It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Erica Welker-Schmitt on June5, 2018 at the age of 79 in the Maison de Soins Palliatifs de Laval. Beloved wife for 58 years of Oswald Schmitt, beloved mother of Michael (Lori), Charles and Caroline (Elias). She will also be mourned by her brother-in-law Josef (Marlies), many relatives and friends in Canada, Europe and South America.

Erica was born in the former Yugoslavia as the only child of the late Henrik and Margareta Welker. In 1960 she immigrated to Canada and was married on October 15, 1960 to Oswald Schmitt at the St. Kevin’s Church in Montreal by the late Rev. Father Thomas McEntee.

Erica had an outgoing happy personality and she made easily many friends. She lived a joyous life with a big generous heart, much laughter and endless stories about her youth and family members. Erica daily read the Bible and praying that in death she would come home to her Heavenly Father whou would wait for her and her grant her eternal peace and happiness.
